Solve what people want and need

At each voter contact session, there are about 120 - 160 opinions, recommendations, and reflections. This is the basis for all levels and sectors to research and resolve the opinions of voters and people, which also means resolving urgent issues in life.

Provincial People's Council delegate Dinh Thi An Phong (Nghi Loc) shared that the closeness and attachment of elected representatives to voters and people is not only through voter contact conferences but also through meetings, learning about practical situations, listening to people about pressing issues arising in life such as those related to environmental pollution or a decision or policy of a superior.

It is this closeness and attachment that has truly created great trust for voters and people in elected bodies; they place their trust when sending their thoughts and aspirations through voter meetings and proactively providing information, reflecting on shortcomings, making suggestions and ideas to elected representatives through emails, text messages, Zalo, and Facebook.

The closeness to the people and responsibility to the people are also carried out by the Provincial People's Council through assigning Provincial People's Council delegates to participate in receiving people at monthly meetings of the Provincial People's Committee and local election sites.

Deputy Head of the Provincial People's Council's Legal Committee Thai Thi An Chung said that through the activities of receiving people with the authorities at all levels, in addition to grasping the issues and matters that voters and people are concerned about, the Provincial People's Council delegates also grasp them to join with localities to do better the work of receiving people, resolving complaints and denunciations of citizens, contributing to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people.

Also from the responsibility to the people, the Standing Committee, Committees, Groups and delegates of the Provincial People's Council always pay attention to monitoring and urging all levels and sectors to resolve the recommendations and reflections of voters and people. For example, before, during and after the 9th session (held in July 2012), the Provincial People's Council synthesized and transferred to the Provincial People's Committee, provincial departments, branches and sectors to resolve 122/163 opinions and recommendations, reaching 75% and 25%, equivalent to 41 opinions and recommendations remaining to be urged by the Provincial People's Council to be resolved.

Deputy Head of the Culture - Social Committee of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thi Lan said that not only monitoring and urging, but also in the process of resolving and responding by the Provincial People's Committee and the branches, through the examination of the Standing Committee and the Committees of the Provincial People's Council, if there is any content that is not reassuring and certain, the Provincial People's Council will continue to directly survey and go to the bottom of the problem...

Responsibility to voters and people is also demonstrated through monitoring activities and thematic surveys of the People's Council, the Standing Committee and the Provincial People's Council Committees. On that basis, recommendations are made to Party committees and authorities at all levels to focus on leadership, direction and handling of shortcomings and problems.

In particular, through the survey on the mobilization, management and use of people's contributions, the Provincial People's Council contributed ideas to the Provincial Party Standing Committee to issue Directive No. 15-CT/TU on strengthening the Party's leadership over State management in implementing funds and mobilizing people's contributions in the province.

The survey is for the Provincial People's Council to make more accurate and practical decisions on the policy of merging hamlets and communes in conjunction with implementing the "post" merger policies; at the same time, recommend the Provincial People's Committee and other sectors to guide the management and use of facilities in the merged units and change documents for the people... Responsibility to the people is also demonstrated through the promulgation of practical mechanisms and policies, based on the rights and interests of voters and people.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council affirmed: As an elected body, representing the will, aspirations and mastery of the people, being close to the people, grasping, understanding and resolving what the people want and need is both a responsibility and a sentiment that the People's Councils at all levels and each elected representative have been concerned about in the past to do well and continue to do even better in the coming time.

Being close to the people, understanding the people, and being responsible to the people not only fulfills the role of an elected representative but also enhances the position and role of the Provincial People's Council in the organization and in society; many issues brought up by the Provincial People's Council for consideration, discussion, deliberation and decision are all the "voices" of the people and for a developed Nghe An.
