At the conference, the reporters listened to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism present the topic "Current status of festival management; tasks for functional agencies and local authorities in organizing, managing, preserving and promoting good traditional cultural values in the new situation".
Thereby affirming that many festivals have created great impressions, unique features of each region. At the same time, festival activities have created revenue, investment efficiency, contributed to improving the spiritual and material life of the people; strengthened the great national unity bloc...
However, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also frankly pointed out that the biggest problem is the limited preservation and conservation of festivals.
Folk festivals in Vietnam account for 88% of the total number of festivals in a year, but they are still too formalistic, unable to convey traditional values, the density of festival organization is too dense, many festivals still have commercial value that overwhelms cultural value, affecting people's religious beliefs. The main reason for this limitation is poor management, the implementation of documents as well as the inspection and supervision work is not serious.

At the conference, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also requested that localities, departments and branches strictly implement the Prime Minister's directives and telegrams not to go to pagodas during working hours. They must grasp the circulars of the Ministry to implement and thoroughly resolve the existing problems in festival management in 2017; resolutely not let festival activities be distorted, causing offense to tourists...
Localities are requested to plan and arrange areas to reduce traffic congestion; arrange human resources in environmental treatment, security and order; manage donation money... The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also outlined tasks in the coming time, thereby orienting the values of the festival and strictly handling violations to ensure the traditional values of traditional festivals.

Regarding the shortcomings in festival management, comrade Lam Phuong Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department requested: Reporters need to propagate the viewpoints on the Party and State's policies and laws on festival management; Propagandize the good meaning of festivals, contributing to raising people's awareness.
He also pointed out that the responsibilities of the organizing agencies and localities in organizing festivals must be implemented synchronously from the licensing stage, guiding inspection, rectifying and correcting deviations and strictly handling violations, not allowing offensive and commercial phenomena to occur in festivals.
Orienting propaganda work in March 2017, comrade Lam Phuong Thanh suggested that reporters should focus on propagating the results of implementing socio-economic development tasks in the first months of the year. Pay attention to oriented propaganda on some issues related to the situation in the East Sea; propagate against wrong viewpoints. Comrade Lam Phuong Thanh also noted that the reporters need to pay attention to promoting the activities of the APEC conference, Vietnam's positivity, proactiveness and contributions in organizing the APEC conference, bringing the image of Vietnam to international friends; promoting the visit of the Japanese Emperor to Vietnam and the special relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
