Dissolution of 3 Steering Committees: Many Deputy Ministers are waiting for jobs
Seven deputy heads and full-time members (equivalent to deputy minister and general director level) of the Southwest Steering Committee have not been assigned work.
The "three Western" steering committees (Northwest, Southwest and Central Highlands) have ended their operations since the end of 2017 and according to the Politburo's request, in the first quarter of 2018, they must complete the handover of assets and arrange new jobs for the cadres here.
However, after this deadline, many people, including deputy ministers, general directors, and department heads, have not yet been assigned jobs.
Speaking to Phap Luat TP.HCM, Mr. Son Minh Thang (Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Southwest Steering Committee) said that the agency still has seven deputy heads and full-time members, equivalent to the level of deputy ministers and general directors, who have not been assigned work. In addition, about 15 contract employees are also looking for new jobs.
“The facilities, records, documents and finances have all been inventoried. We are waiting for the Government Office to send someone to hand over immediately. The most difficult thing now is to arrange staff. We are actively working with the Central Organizing Committee, the Ministry of Home Affairs and localities to arrange this,” said Mr. Son Minh Thang.

According to Mr. Thang, all activities of the Southwest Steering Committee have now been suspended. The only job is to coordinate with the focal points to arrange work for the members. Mr. Thang has been assigned by the Politburo to be the Party Secretary of the Central Agencies.
Similarly, the Northwest Steering Committee held its last meeting on March 30 to bid farewell to 18 officials who were assigned to new positions in Yen Bai province, where the committee has been based for the past 14 years. These are officials whose families are in the area and who have a personal desire to stay in their home province.
In addition to this number, some other cases have been contacted for work in the past. Now there are 31 cases, including deputy ministers and department heads, waiting for the central government to arrange work.
Previously, Deputy Head of the Committee Hau A Lenh was appointed to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2014-2019 term.
“The files and documents have been handed over to the Central Office. The assets remain intact and will be transferred to the Government Office. The current budget is still provided by the Government Office. The most important concerns are the civil servants and contract workers. I will stay behind to take care of everyone and then leave, it is okay,” said Ms. Hoang Thi Hanh, Deputy Head of the Department.
The most relaxed is the Central Highlands Steering Committee, headquartered in Dak Lak. Apart from the permanent deputy head Dieu Kre who was transferred to Hanoi to become the deputy head of the Central Mass Mobilization Committee, there are no more deputy heads here.
“I am a seconded police officer, so I will return to the Ministry of Public Security, and one member, with a position coefficient of 1.25, is waiting for the Central Organizing Committee to arrange. Nearly 10 others have contacted the work themselves. Most of the remaining 20 cases have asked to return to Dak Lak. The province has agreed, but we are still waiting for the Ministry of Home Affairs to add more positions before we receive them,” said Mr. Tran Dinh Thu, full-time member of the Central Highlands Steering Committee.
