Clearing illegal parking spots in Vinh walking street area

Specifically, at around 8-9 pm on April 29, on the sidewalk of Truong Thi Street, in front of the headquarters of Nghe An Department of Construction, a group of people set up a parking spot on the sidewalk. Some distributed tickets, some collected money, some stood outside on the street to call customers to park their vehicles, coordinating smoothly. According to observations, hundreds of vehicles were parked here.

It is worth mentioning that not only do they occupy the sidewalks, the parking fees here are also sky-high compared to the regulations. The price for motorbikes is up to 10,000 VND/time, the price for cars is from 20,000 - 30,000 VND/time. The parking tickets are also written very roughly, without a listed price or the date of parking, nor the licensing unit for parking.

Meanwhile, according to Decision No. 80/2016 ofPeople's Committee of Nghe An provinceRegarding the regulations on car parking service prices in Nghe Andaytime fares(from 6am to 10pm) is 2,000 VND/trip for bicycles, 3,000 VND/trip for motorbikes and 10,000 VND/trip for cars under 7 seats. For cars, passenger vans, and specialized vehicles larger than 15,000 VND/trip, applied in cities and towns.

Thus, with ticket prices 3 times higher than the regulations, along with a large number of vehicles, on the night of April 29, this group of people was able to collect millions of dong against regulations.

After the reporter reported this situation, the authorities of Truong Thi Ward, Vinh City stepped in to verify. Accordingly, the group of people illegally keeping vehicles on this route was a household, headed by Ms. LTS, Block 14, Truong Thi Ward. The functional forces of the ward cleared this illegal parking spot and at the same time drew up a record of fines.

Through discussion, Vinh City leaders said that the city has issued a walking street project and arranged parking lots to serve residents and tourists. Therefore, households that occupy the roadway, sidewalk or open spontaneous family parking lots for profit will be handled according to regulations. In the coming time, the city will direct the forces and neighboring wards to strengthen and coordinate with Truong Thi ward to patrol and promptly handle this issue.

Previously, at the Ho Chi Minh Square parking lot, there was also a situation where employees were charging higher prices than the regulations. The authorities intervened and terminated the labor contracts of these employees.

In the walking street project, Vinh city has arranged parking lots including: Provincial Labor Culture House (car and motorbike parking); Giao Te Hotel (car parking); Sidewalk of Le Mao Street (motorbike parking); Ho Chi Minh Square (car and motorbike parking); Sidewalk of Le Hong Phong Street (motorbike parking); Sidewalk of Ho Tung Mau Street - the area in front of the Provincial Inspectorate (motorbike parking).
