Clearing street vendors from encroaching on traffic in Vinh market area
(Baonghean) - Vinh market has large businesses and a large number of people coming to the market, so for many years, urban order has always been a difficult problem that causes frustration for both residents and tourists.
At Vinh market, for a long time, street vendors, three-wheeled vehicles, cars, and motorbikes have been moving around, stopping and parking haphazardly, encroaching on traffic safety corridors and spilling out onto the road, causing difficulties for business activities as well as people's circulation, making the market look shabby.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - a fruit vendor at Vinh market said: "The situation of trading on the sidewalks and roads around the market area has not been eliminated for many years, especially in the afternoon when fish and meat stalls... spill out onto the road, making business in the market area difficult...".

Therefore, the work of traffic safety, urban order, and environmental sanitation is of concern to the Vinh City People's Committee and the Market Management Board, especially the two routes of Hong Son and Cao Thang. In July 2016, the Vinh City People's Committee and the Market Management Board developed a plan to implement the work of traffic safety, urban order, and environmental sanitation on the main routes.
Mr. To Thanh Nhan - Head of Vinh Market Management Board said: Vinh Market Management Board presides over coordination with the City Police, the City Urban Inspection Team, the Ward Police, and the Hong Son Ward Rules Team to organize the clearance, not allowing street vendors to operate on the two routes Hong Son - Cao Thang and not collecting fees from businesses.
The forces simultaneously deployed and organized the clearance work, absolutely prohibiting street vendors from trading on the two routes Hong Son - Cao Thang. If any household violates the regulations, they will be resolutely handled according to regulations. After the clearance, the area was handed over to Vinh Market Management Board to continue to regularly and continuously carry out the work of order, urban traffic safety and environmental sanitation on the route.
Up to now, after 5 months of implementation, the roads have been cleared again, there are no more street vendors or vehicles parked on the road. This work has been recognized and highly appreciated by small traders, residents, and leaders of the City People's Committee.
However, the current difficulty is the lack of parking for traders, as well as tourists when coming to Vinh market. Vinh market currently has 3,200 business households (not including the 3rd floor) on a total area of 70,000m2. In addition to traders, the number of customers coming in and out to trade is very large, followed by a large number of cars. While the demand for cars is increasing, the parking lot in the basement can only accommodate 50 cars, causing a lot of stress on parking.
Currently, the market management board has marked out an area in the middle of Cao Thang Street (this area can accommodate 60 cars) for people entering and exiting the market to stop and park their vehicles. However, for a long time, because there has been no one to supervise and manage, there have been times when vehicles have stopped and parked illegally, affecting traffic in the area.
