Right after the opening whistle, the U21 Vietnam players rushed forward to attack, pushing the Thai players back to their home field. Fans in the stadium did not have to wait long when in the 6th minute, Pham Van Thanh skillfully dribbled the ball and curled the ball into the far corner of goalkeeper Juheng's goal, Thailand opened the score 1-0. In the 14th minute, from a corner kick on the left, Ho Tuan Tai jumped high and headed the ball into the net of goalkeeper Juheng, doubling the gap for the U21 Vietnam team.
U21 Thailand pushed up their formation to find an equalizer and gradually regained control of the game. At this time, due to the slippery and wet field, there were some erratic clearances from the U21 Vietnam defense. Taking advantage of these mistakes, in the 22nd minute, Puangbut scored a close-range goal to reduce the score to 1-2 for U21 Thailand. At the end of the first half, Sarasarin once again took advantage of the mistake of the U21 Vietnam defense to successfully finish the equalizer 2-2 for U21 Thailand.
