The National Youth Karatedo Championship attracted 490 athletes.
The 19th National Youth Karatedo Championship 2013, organized by the Vietnam Karatedo Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, opened on the evening of July 30th at the Can Tho City Multi-Purpose Gymnasium.
This year, the tournament attracted 490 athletes (including 309 female athletes) from 40 provinces, cities, and sectors nationwide with strong Karatedo movements, such as the Army, the Police, Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, etc.

Athletes will compete in three age groups: 14-15 years old, 16-17 years old, and 18-22 years old, vying for 54 sets of medals.
The tournament is officiated by 50 referees, including one international referee from Japan.
The National Youth Karatedo Championship is an activity aimed at promoting the practice of Karatedo among young people. It is also an opportunity for the national youth team's coaching staff to discover new young talents, promising individuals, and outstanding athletes to train and develop, supplementing the national youth team and preparing for the SEA Games and ASIAD.
The competition is part of the annual high-performance sports competition system of the General Department of Physical Education and Sports, and participants are young, outstanding athletes representing units, provinces, cities, and sectors nationwide.
The tournament is expected to conclude on August 2nd.
