Director of CDC Ca Mau arrested for involvement in Viet A
Mr. Dang Hai Dang, Director of the Ca Mau Provincial CDC, along with his subordinates and a department head of the Department of Health were temporarily detained for their involvement in Viet A.
On the afternoon of July 31, Mr. Dang, 56 years old, Director of the Center for Disease Control of Ca Mau province (CDC), was prosecuted and temporarily detained by Ca Mau Provincial Police for his behavior.Violation of bidding regulations causes serious consequences.
Accused of the same act, Ho Quang Nhu, Deputy Head of the Planning - Business Department, CDC Ca Mau; and Le Ngoc Dinh, Head of the Planning - Finance Department (Department of Health) were also temporarily detained.

The investigation results determined that from January 2020 to October 2021, the Department of Health and CDC Ca Mau, the Provincial General Hospital carried out 11 bidding packages to purchase Covid-19 test kits, automatic DNA/RNA extraction machines, chemicals, biological products and equipment for Covid-19 prevention from Viet A Technology Joint Stock Company. The total value is more than 49 billion VND.
In April, after identifying signs of collusion in the supply of test kits by Viet A Company, Ca Mau Provincial Police initiated a case.
The investigation results determined that the defendants Le Ngoc Dinh, Dang Hai Dang and Ho Quang Nhu did not comply with regulations during the bidding process for purchasing test kits; did not ensure fairness and transparency (prohibited acts in bidding).
Authorities also said that the Department of Health purchased test kits at high prices, causing a loss of more than VND9.1 billion (the remaining 40,000 kits have not been paid yet). Similarly, the CDC Ca Mau caused a loss of about VND3 billion.
Over the past 7 months, since the prosecution of the case of violations at Viet A Technology Joint Stock Company related to the purchase of Covid-19 test kits, the Ministry of Public Security and the police of provinces and cities have arrested more than 60 people. Among them are former Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long, former Chairman of Hanoi Chu Ngoc Anh; dozens of people are CDC directors, leaders of health staff of 15 provinces and cities.
