On October 7, the People's Court of Thua Thien Hue province announced the first instance verdict in the case of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" against defendant Le Van Hien (born in 1991, residing in Lang Xa Con village, Thuy Thanh commune, Huong Thuy town, Thua Thien Hue province).

According to the indictment, from September 2021 to October 2022, Le Van Hien worked as Director of HT Action Limited Liability Company, a real estate business operating in Thua Thien Hue.
During the course of doing business, due to losses and bad debts at the bank, Hien used many fraudulent tricks such as drawing maps to separate plots of land that were not under his ownership, then selling them to many land buyers to receive deposits and borrow money to invest in real estate business.

In addition, Hien also deposited a small amount of money to negotiate the transfer of land from others and then quickly put it up for sale. When there was a buyer, Hien asked the land owners to carry out the procedures to transfer the land use rights directly to the buyer (designated by Hien), Hien committed to paying the full amount as agreed to the land owner immediately after completing the transfer procedures.
At Hien's request, the land owners signed a contract to transfer the land use rights to the buyer's name. Then, the buyer paid Hien in full, but Hien only paid a portion without paying the land owner. Hien appropriated the remaining amount for personal use.
With these tricks, Hien appropriated a total of more than 9.3 billion VND from many victims. The People's Court sentenced defendant Le Van Hien to 15 years in prison for "Fraudulent appropriation of property" and forced him to return all the money he had appropriated from the victims.
