Company director directs accountant to 'disguise' invoices to evade 10 billion VND in taxes

The Investigation Police Agency - Thanh Hoa Provincial Police has initiated a case, prosecuted the accused and applied preventive measures to prohibit leaving the place of residence against Le Van Truong (born in 1976), Director of Minh Thuyet TH Company Limited, with address in Thieu Hoa town, Thieu Hoa district and Le Thi Tham (born in 1980), in Dong Tho ward, Thanh Hoa city, accountant of Minh Thuyet TH Company Limited, for the act of "Tax evasion".

The investigation agency serves the decision to prosecute the accused.

According to investigation documents, from 2020 to 2022, taking advantage of the different value-added tax (VAT) rates between the sale of imported frozen foods to individuals (VAT 5%) and the sale of imported frozen foods to businesses (VAT 0%), Le Van Truong, as Director of Minh Thuyet TH Company Limited, used tricks and directed Le Thi Tham to find ways to evade taxes.

Specifically, Truong used the legal entities of 4 companies established by Truong, including: Truong Vinh Trading Services Company Limited; Minh Thuyet TH Company Limited; Tay Vinh Import-Export Company Limited; Son Vinh Trading Services Company Limited and asked Tham to issue fake invoices from individual customers to corporate customers to evade VAT, causing a loss of more than 10 billion VND to the State budget.

The case is currently under investigation./.
