Police have located Nguyen Xuan Thu, the director of Vinaca Company, after he had been on the run for several days while under investigation for illegally producing cancer treatment products using bamboo charcoal powder.

On May 2nd, Hai Phong police confirmed that after several days on the run, Nguyen Xuan Thu, Director of Vinaca Co., Ltd., was arrested on the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway. Thu is being investigated for illegally producing cancer treatment products using bamboo charcoal powder.

Previously, on April 20th, the Hai Phong Police initiated a criminal case against Vinaca and Hong An Phong companies for the crime of producing and trading counterfeit food, food additives, and food supplements, under Article 193 of the 2015 Penal Code.

According to the investigating agency, on January 15, 2018, a joint inspection team from Kien An district inspected the production facility of Dao Thi Chuc (24 years old, Thu's wife) in Ngoc Son ward, and discovered 10 workers making capsules, labeling, and packaging products under Chuc's direct supervision.

The inspection team confiscated over one ton of raw materials and products such as Vinaca Cancer CO3.2, Vinaca Vi5, Vinaca Activated Carbon multi-purpose, Vinaca Baby Vi6, Vinaca trace elements, Vinaca multi-purpose, etc.

According to Chúc's testimony, the functional foods and cosmetics were produced using charcoal made from bamboo and reeds, manually ground into powder and mixed with chemicals. The raw materials were supplied by Nguyễn Văn Tuấn, Director of Hồng An Phong Co., Ltd., headquartered in Hồng Phong commune (An Dương district, Hải Phòng). Vinaca's products were sold in 19 provinces and cities.
