Chelsea technical director: 'We see light at the end of the tunnel'

Jose Mourinho still receives the trust of the Russian billionaire and is given more opportunities, despite Chelsea's crisis in the Premier League this season.

The news was confirmed by Chelsea's technical director Michael Emenalo. Emenalo is one of the few officials at Stamford Bridge close to the Russian billionaire.

"At the moment, the owner and the board have put their trust in Jose Mourinho, who has given a lot to the club," Emenalo told the Telegraph. "We also believe in the players, who have performed well over the last few seasons. We see light at the end of the tunnel, and we are confident that we will overcome the difficulties ahead."

Chelsea are currently 16th in the Premier League, with seven defeats in 12 games. British media had speculated that Mourinho was likely to be sacked after the defeat to Liverpool in round 11. However, this did not happen.

Emenalo said Abramovich was feeling the same negative emotions as the fans when they saw their team in crisis. "He is a passionate football man. He cares deeply about Chelsea and when things go wrong, he is affected just like the fans," Emenalo said.

However, Chelsea's technical director still issued a warning to Mourinho. "The owner can see the whole picture of the team, not just the individual but all the departments. When he needs to make a decision, he will know what to do. Obviously, he sees that his precious team is not doing well."

In the next round, on November 21, Chelsea will host Norwich City.
