Director of Nghe An Department of Science and Technology: Key seedlings need 6 conditions
(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Tran Quoc Thanh - Director of Nghe An Department of Science and Technology said that the seedlings selected as "main" must meet 6 conditions.
Contributing comments at the scientific workshop "Theoretical and practical basis in determining key plants and animals of the province in the period of 2021 - 2025 with orientation to 2030" held on May 26 in Vinh City, Mr. Tran Quoc Thanh - Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Nghe An frankly pointed out many limitations in the development of key products of Nghe An in the agricultural sector in the past nearly 6 years. That is, the contribution of identified key products has not really made a breakthrough, the market is still limited, many products are difficult to achieve their goals, have not strongly promoted the restructuring of the agricultural sector; products have little added value.
The reason, according to Mr. Thanh, is that first of all, identifying key plants to encourage and support investment and development still has too many subjects including 12 plants, 8 animals and 21 indicators is too broad.

Because Nghe An has identified many while its resources are not strong, investment and investment support are scattered, lacking focus, lacking connection between resources, making it difficult to attract businesses. Also because it is difficult to attract businesses, it is difficult to connect the chain, there are not many deeply processed products, output products are low in price, unstable, uneven in quality, difficult to control, and low competitiveness.
Most of the land is granted to farmers for use, the area is small, it is difficult to invest in machinery, difficult to apply new technology, difficult to connect with businesses. Agricultural and forestry farms have not been able to promote efficiency compared to their potential and advantages. Businesses have difficulty accessing land.
Meanwhile, the market is competitive not only internationally but also domestically, and people do not have regular access to market information. Cooperation between businesses and farmers is loose and unreliable.
Infrastructure is not yet synchronized, especially electricity and logistics in agriculture. Finance in agriculture is also facing difficulties, while development support policies still focus heavily on input support and little on output support. Labor quality in the agricultural sector is low, and there is a lack of young human resources in rural areas.
From the above issues, Mr. Tran Quoc Thanh proposed: First of all, it is necessary to review the list of key products. The selection criteria focus on prioritizing two main issues: Comparative advantage and market opportunities.

Tuesday, has room for expansion and output accounts for a significant proportion of the country.
Wednesday,can produce value-added products.
Thursday,There is a high chance of penetrating a wide market both domestically and internationally, and it is even possible to identify a key market.
Friday,The product has a competitive advantage over other provinces and countries that produce the same product.
According to the Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Nghe An should choose 6 advantageous products: Fruit trees (including citrus and avocado trees); Tea trees of all kinds (including Shan Tuyet tea, Oolong tea and yellow flower tea); Poultry meat and eggs (focusing on chicken); Shrimp of all kinds; Pork; Wood and wood products (including bamboo).
At the same time, it is necessary to identify some key products of the province that are not yet key national products for further development, including 3 subjects: Dairy cows and beef cattle; Sugarcane and sugarcane products; Medicinal plants and pharmaceutical products.
