Director of Russian Oil Corporation: America wants to dominate the world oil market

(Baonghean.vn) - CEO of Russian oil and gas corporation Rosneft, Mr. Igor Sechin, said that the sanctions imposed by Washington against Russia and other countries have nothing but the purpose of creating favorable conditions for US companies in the energy market and other global markets.

According to Mr. Sechin, the US "is accustomed to the role of regulating the world oil market", by replacing the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) with the so-called "US-PEC".

In its quest to achieve those goals, the US ignores the interests of the rest of the world. Mr. Sechin cited, for example, sanctions against Russia and Moscow’s retaliation that also hurt Germany, a key US ally.

Speaking at the 11th Eurasian Economic Forum held in Verona (Italy), the head of Rosneft Group said: "The US only suffered 0.6% of the losses from its sanctions against Russia, while Germany faced 40% of the losses from these sanctions. I would like to note that in many areas such as shale oil, arms exports, the US economy has won in reality due to sanctions against other countries. Is this simply a way to support domestic producers at the expense of the international community?"

Mr. Rosneft said that a complete ban on oil imports from Iran from November 5, imposed by the United States, would have serious consequences for the European economy. Mr. Rosneft warned: "In the short term, the wars initiated by the US Treasury could lead to a serious imbalance in the oil market."

The instability in Libya and Venezuela, along with the instability surrounding Iran, will all cause increased uncertainty in the oil market, and this is all caused by the US administration, the Rosneft CEO added.

The Rosneft boss said OPEC cannot afford to compensate for the US-led oil production shortfall, and stressed that this could lead to further price spikes. According to Mr. Sechin, the US has its own vision, because "it is too accustomed to regulating the global oil market, which is driven by self-interest."
