10% discount on electricity
The Prime Minister welcomed the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN)'s decision to reduce electricity prices by 10%, totaling about VND11,000 billion. The total value of the telecommunications service price support package is about VND15,000 billion.
* On April 1, the Ministry of Industry and Trade sent report 22/BC-BCT to the Prime Minister on the proposal to reduce electricity prices for electricity customers within 3 months (from April 1, 2020 to July 1, 2020) to remove difficulties for production and business in the context of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed a 10% reduction in the price of household electricity from April 1 (under 50 kWh to 200-300 kWh). These are the affected households, civil servants and workers with an estimated support amount of about VND 2,930 billion.

For levels above 300 kWh, the ministry proposed keeping the electricity price unchanged because customers consuming at this level are households with high incomes and are less affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
For tourism and accommodation customers, the Ministry proposes to adjust the electricity price from business service customers to the same price as production households. The expected support amount is about 1,800 billion VND.
In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also proposed exempting electricity bills for quarantine and concentrated medical examination and treatment facilities related to the COVID-19 epidemic; reducing electricity prices by 20% for medical examination and treatment facilities that examine, test, and treat patients suspected of being infected or infected with COVID-19; and reducing electricity prices by 20% for hotels used for quarantine. The estimated support budget is about 100 billion VND.
Thus, according to the price reduction plan proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, EVN's revenue in 2020 will decrease by nearly VND 11,000 billion (if this plan is applied for 3 months).
