Discounted fares at many BOT stations nationwide

The Vietnam Road Administration has proposed to reduce fees at five BOT traffic stations on National Highways 14, 19 and 91 and the Yen Lenh Bridge BOT (National Highway 38) connecting Hung Yen with Ha Nam from November 1.

The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam (DRVN) has just proposed to the Ministry of Transport (MOT) to reduce the toll price at the BOT toll station located at Km1747 of the Ho Chi Minh Road Investment, Upgrade and Expansion Project (National Highway 14, section through Buon Ho town, Dak Lak province) invested by Quang Duc BOT Company, with a reduction of 6%-14%.

With this fee reduction, from November 1, for vehicles with less than 12 seats, trucks with a load capacity of less than 2 tons, and public passenger buses, the fee will be reduced from VND35,000 to VND30,000.

Vehicles with 12 to 30 seats; trucks with a load capacity of 2 tons to under 4 tons reduced from 50,000 to 45,000 VND.

Vehicles with 31 seats or more; trucks with a load capacity of 4 tons to under 10 tons reduced from 75,000 VND to 65,000 VND.

Trucks with a load capacity from 10 tons to under 18 tons; trucks carrying goods in 20-foot containers reduced from VND 120,000 to VND 110,000.

Trucks with a load capacity of 18 tons or more; trucks carrying goods in 40-foot containers reduced from VND 180,000 to VND 170,000.

For the two BOT toll stations T1 and T2 on National Highway 91 through Can Tho City and An Giang Province, from November 1, the toll for type 1 vehicles will be reduced to 30,000 VND/vehicle/trip, and the toll for the largest vehicles will be reduced from 200,000 VND/vehicle/trip to 170,000 VND/vehicle/trip.

The General Department of Roads of Vietnam has worked with the Department of Transport of Hung Yen province, the Department of Transport of Ha Nam province and the Investor, the project enterprise to negotiate the adjustment of the reduction of the road use service fee at Yen Lenh Toll Station, the Investment Project to build National Highway 38 from Yen Lenh bridge to Vuc Vong intersection under the BOT form.

The parties have agreed to submit to the Ministry of Transport a plan to reduce road service fees at Yen Lenh Toll Station.

Specifically, a 12 - 15% discount will be applied to all vehicles passing through Yen Lenh Toll Station and the fares for vehicles in the vicinity of this Toll Station will be reduced compared to the current price. The discount is expected to start from November 1, 2017.

Accordingly, all vehicles passing through Yen Lenh Toll Station will have their fares reduced with the lowest proposed reduction being 20,000 VND/vehicle/trip and the highest being 160,000 VND/vehicle/trip.

The General Department of Roads also proposed to reduce the price for vehicles with permanent residence registration, organizations and enterprises with headquarters in the vicinity of the Toll Station in 8 communes of Duy Tien district, Ha Nam province (Moc Nam commune, Moc Bac commune, Yen Bac commune, Chuyen Ngoai commune, Trac Van commune, Chau Giang commune, Yen Nam commune and Hoa Mac town) and Hung Yen city with the proposed price reduction equal to the collection level of the previous Yen Lenh Bridge Construction Investment Project - National Highway 38 - Hung Yen and Ha Nam provinces.

Specifically, the collection rate for each type of vehicle is as follows: Type 1 is 15,000 VND, type 2 is 20,000 VND, type 3 is 30,000 VND, type 4 is 60,000 VND and type 5 is 120,000 VND.

According to regulations, the 3-year contract increases ticket prices once, the increase rate is 18%, the expected increase time is 2019.

The Vietnam Road Administration proposed not to implement the 18% fare increase in 2019 according to the contract, but to postpone this fare increase to 2021.

The Vietnam Road Administration also recommended that the Ministry of Transport assign the Ministry's specialized agency to adjust the financial plan and project contract accordingly./.
