Supervising fire prevention and control work at Nghe Tinh Petroleum Transportation Joint Stock Company.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 21, a supervisory delegation of the Provincial People's Council, led by the Legal Affairs Committee, worked with and supervised fire prevention and fighting work at Nghe Tinh Petroleum Transportation Joint Stock Company (PTS-NT).

During the two years of 2012-2013, in addition to complying with fire safety regulations, the company issued and trained staff on fire safety regulations, rules, and measures; periodically conducted self-inspections and coordinated with inter-agency teams to inspect fire safety. Furthermore, once or twice a year, the company collaborated with the Fire Prevention and Control Department 66 of the Police of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces to provide professional training for the issuance and renewal of fire safety certificates for its staff; closely coordinated with various organizations in participating in the National Week on Occupational Safety and Fire Prevention; and focused on organizing the "Good Parking, Safe Driving" competition.

The company has invested in fire prevention and fighting equipment, ensuring that every store and tanker truck has basic fire prevention and fighting equipment; conducted rigorous training and assessment of fire prevention and fighting plans and equipment after repairs, ensuring operational funding; promptly rewarded and strictly penalized units that did not meet fire prevention and fighting requirements… As a result, despite the large geographical area and high frequency of operations, the company has not experienced any fires in the past two years.

However, the fire prevention and control process also has some shortcomings such as: in Nghe An province, many private stores have sprung up using the PTS Nghe Tinh brand, causing confusion and affecting the company's reputation; fire prevention and control equipment has to be imported, resulting in high costs; the training period for renewing fire prevention and control certificates is too short (1 year); despite efforts, the investment in equipment is only 35-36 million VND/year, which is low; there are many inspection teams visiting during the year, some with overlapping content, causing difficulties for the business's operations…

Through the monitoring process, the delegation members acknowledged the company's efforts in implementing fire prevention and control measures; they also shared their understanding of the company's limited investment in this area.On behalf of the supervisory delegation, Ms. Thai Thi An Chung, Deputy Head of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council, received the company's recommendations and compiled them for submission to the Provincial People's Council.
