Vietnamese female referee and supervisor selected to officiate Asian Women's Club Championship

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has just awarded special honor to Vietnamese football in Group A of the Asian Women's Club Championship qualifiers.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has just announced the appointment of a referee supervisor and two referees to officiate in Group A of the 2023 AFC Women's Club Championship qualifiers.

Accordingly, Ms. Mai Hoang Trang of Vietnam will be one of two referee supervisors in charge of Group A, taking place in Chonburi (Thailand) from November 6 to November 12.

In addition, two referees Le Thi Ly and Ha Thi Phuong (assistant referees) were also appointed by AFC to participate in officiating Group A matches of the 2023 Asian Women's Club Championship.

The 2023 AFC Women's Club Championship will be held in two host countries, Thailand in East Asia and Iran in West Asia. In the previous two editions, referee Bui Thi Thu Trang had the honor of officiating.

Vietnam Shooting Federation rewards coaches and athletes with high achievements at ASIAD 19

On the afternoon of October 18, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Shooting Federation held a ceremony to commend and reward coaches and athletes who achieved high results at the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD 19) in China.

At the 19th ASIAD, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation concluded a successful event with a total achievement of 27 medals (3 Gold medals, 5 Silver medals and 19 Bronze medals), ranking 21st in Asia. In particular, Vietnamese shooting contributed with 1 Gold medal, 1 Silver medal and 1 Bronze medal.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Shooting Federation decided to award the 19th ASIAD Gold Medal to shooter Pham Quang Huy 100 million VND; the Silver Medal to shooter Ngo Huu Vuong 20 million VND; and the 3 shooters who won Bronze Medals, Pham Quang Huy, Phan Cong Minh, Lai Cong Minh (5 million VND/person).

Along with that, for the achievement of winning a ticket to the 2024 Olympics, shooter Trinh Thu Vinh was awarded 20 million VND; shooter Nguyen Thuy Trang was awarded 10 million VND for the Asian Gold Medal. Coaches: Hoang Xuan Vinh, Tran Quoc Cuong, Nghiem Viet Hung were awarded 10 million VND each for their achievements at the 19th ASIAD.

Vietnam team loses points on FIFA rankings

The failures in the friendly matches in October 2023 caused the Vietnamese team to lose points in the FIFA rankings.

According to the Elo scoring formula of the World Football Federation (FIFA),Vietnam teamdeducted 6.89 points after the October international series. Coach Philippe Troussier and his team played 3 matches, against China, Uzbekistan and South Korea, but only 2 of those matches were counted.

VFF chose the two matches with China and South Korea as official level 1 matches. The match with Uzbekistan was considered a closed practice match. The Vietnamese team lost to China and Uzbekistan with the same score of 0-2, then lost to South Korea with the score of 0-6.

Despite the points deduction, the Vietnamese team may still rise in the FIFA rankings for October (updated on October 26). The Armenian team (ranked 91st in the world) was deducted 20.22 points after losing to Latvia and North Macedonia, expected to fall to 95th place and push the Vietnamese team up one place.

In Asia, the Vietnamese team is ranked 15th and this position is likely to remain unchanged.

The FIFA rankings will be officially updated on October 26. In November, national teams will continue to compete internationally. The Vietnamese team will play two matches against the Philippines (November 16) and Iraq (November 21) in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Hai Phong FC lose players due to suspension in the opening match of V-League 2023/24

The match between Hai Phong FC and Hoang Anh Gia Lai at Lach Tray Stadium at 6:00 p.m. on October 20 will be the first match of V-League 2023/2024. In this match, both teams suffered losses due to suspension.

Hai Phong FC will not have the service of central defender Dang Van Toi due to receiving a red card at the end of the 2023 V-League season. On the other side of the front line, Hoang Anh Gia Lai is missing versatile defender Le Van Son for the same reason.
