Angry because his wife asked for a divorce and left without coming back, Tien bought rat poison to poison his two children.

On July 29, the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City held a mobile trial in the locality for Tran Dung Tien (37 years old, residing in District 12) for the crime of Murder.

According to the indictment, Tien and Ms. Chung are husband and wife, have 2 children and live together in Thoi An ward, district 12.

Sad because her husband was often drunk, leading to conflicts between the couple, in early November 2015, Ms. Chung went back to her mother's house in Ben Tre province. About a week later, Ms. Chung and her mother went to Ho Chi Minh City to meet Tien to talk. The wife set a condition that if Tien did not quit drinking, she would divorce him.

However, Tien did not agree. Chung and her mother then went to her sister's house. Tien went to see Chung but was stopped and slapped by his mother-in-law.

On the way home, Tien was upset and had the idea of ​​buying rat poison for his two children to drink, then committing suicide with them. He bought two packs of rat poison, three cans of beer and a bottle of soft drink to bring home.

Before committing suicide, Tien called his wife but couldn't get through, so he texted her: "If you don't come home, the three of us will die together." Hearing that, Ms. Chung immediately called her mother-in-law to come and help look after the children. When she came home and saw that the children were fine, she left.

On the afternoon of November 15, 2015, Tien boiled crabs in water mixed with rat poison, and mixed it with beer and soft drinks for the father and his three children to drink. After a while, all three began to vomit. Tien ran to his younger brother's house nearby and asked him to take all three of them to the emergency room. The two children were fortunately unharmed, but Tien suffered 30% disability. Two days later, he turned himself in.

In court, Tien confessed honestly and repented. The consequences of the case were limited, the victim asked for a lighter sentence... so the panel sentenced Tien to 12 years in prison.
