(Baonghean) - After graduating from high school in 2003, Tran Van Hai, from Hamlet 4, Nghia Thuan Commune (Thai Hoa Town), decided to start his own business in his hometown. Undeterred by setbacks, his farm now generates hundreds of millions of dong in revenue annually; he also makes significant contributions to the development of his hometown.

Initially, Tran Van Hai learned the carpentry trade from his father. With his diligent, hardworking nature, after three years in the carpentry profession, Hai had acquired solid skills and a considerable amount of capital. But with a passion and a desire to become wealthy, in 2006 he began building chicken coops to raise free-range chickens. In the beginning, lacking experience and unfamiliar with the characteristics of this type of animal, he constantly encountered setbacks.

After two failed investments, his flock of chickens fell ill and many died. However, he was not discouraged by the failures; on the contrary, they fueled his ambition to get rich. He boldly changed his farming methods, applying new advancements that did not pollute the environment, so his chickens grew and developed well. In 2008, Mr. Hai succeeded with his first batch of chickens and continued to expand his broiler chicken farming. To date, he has 1,000 square meters of chicken coops with 1,500 broiler chickens sourced from Hoa Binh province and 500 chicks sourced from Binh Dinh province.

On average, every 1-1.5 months, he sells a batch of 500 chickens, weighing from 900 kg to 1 ton of product. After deducting expenses, each batch yields a profit of 30 to 35 million VND. Since 2014 alone, his farm has sold over 10 batches of chickens, earning him nearly 400 million VND in profit after deducting all expenses. Mr. Hai said: “Initially, I considered following my friends to the South to work as a factory worker, but then I thought, why not get rich in my hometown? From then on, I decided to raise broiler chickens on a commercial scale. In the future, I will continue to expand the scale of my farming.”

Mr. Tran Van Hai is also a young, enthusiastic Catholic who actively participates in social activities, contributing his youthful energy to his homeland. In 2009, he was elected by the people of Hamlet 4, Nghia Thuan Commune, as a police officer and deputy hamlet leader. Bearing the responsibility entrusted to him by the villagers, he always fulfills all tasks assigned by the Party committee and the people. The security and order in the hamlet have remained stable for many years, with no major incidents occurring. This is largely thanks to the young police officer. He constantly reminds himself that as a young man, elected by the people, he cannot betray their trust. Besides, he is young and healthy, and he must maintain peace for the people; he cannot let older people stand guard day and night while he sleeps.

With his achievements in labor, production, and social work, in 2013, he was awarded the "Outstanding Young Face of Nghe An" award by the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union. Notably, in 2014, along with 150 outstanding young farmers nationwide, he was honored to receive the Luong Dinh Cua Award from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. He represents exemplary rural youth who are contributing their efforts and intellect to the development of agriculture and the construction of new rural areas in Thai Hoa town. The exemplary example of this Catholic young man, Tran Van Hai, will inspire many youth union members and serve as motivation for many young people to overcome poverty and develop economically.
