(Baonghean.vn) - That was the opinion given at the Workshop on the current situation and solutions for Life Skills Education in Schools organized by the Ministry of Education and Training on the morning of October 12.

At the workshop, Mr. Bui Van Linh - Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs - Ministry of Education and Training said: Outstanding achievements in the field of information technology and knowledge economy have created many opportunities for social development in general and for education and training in particular.

However, the increasing amount of bad and toxic information on the internet and social networks has negatively impacted the learning and training process of students; the globalization process has posed many challenges for human resources, requiring more stringent requirements for life skills and professional skills...

From this reality, life skills education is one of the important measures to help students protect themselves when in dangerous situations; help young people work better, have the ability to effectively handle difficult situations in study, life...

According to the report of the Ministry of Education and Training, up to now, 100% of the Departments of Education and Training have developed plans/programs to implement moral education, lifestyle and life skills in schools. Life skills education is an important content in the innovation of general education and is one of the solutions to build and perfect the personality of students.

Some life skills have been effectively implemented through school curriculums such as: Training in appropriate behavior skills in life situations; teamwork skills; training in health and health protection awareness; skills to prevent traffic accidents, drowning and injuries; training in cultural behavior skills, peaceful coexistence, prevention of violence and social accidents....

However, life skills education in schools has limitations such as mostly integrating subjects and not being built into separate subjects in the general education program, so the implementation has not really brought about effectiveness.

Facilities and equipment in schools only meet the needs of teaching knowledge to students, not yet meeting the needs of life skills education. Training and fostering for staff and lecturers teaching life skills is difficult; the form of organizing life skills is not rich and flexible, the methods are limited, not implemented evenly in schools, grades, limited funding...

From this reality, at the workshop, representatives of the Departments of Education and Training and universities had many presentations sharing about the implementation, experiences and difficulties in the process of implementing life skills education today. The workshop also proposed solutions to improve the quality and effectiveness of life skills education, contributing to the comprehensive education of the young generation in schools.

Speaking at the workshop, the representative of Nghe An Department of Education and Training said: The Life Skills Education Program has been organized in 1,500 educational institutions throughout the province. However, currently, the direction and management of life skills education activities at each level is advised and implemented by the specialized department at that level, so the connection and synchronization are not high, affecting the quality of this activity. The implementation process is still confusing in organizing and selecting activities; the implementation of teaching only ensures the breadth of providing information and theory without going into practical situations.
