Pope opposes using the word 'mother' to name bombs

Pope Francis yesterday condemned the US military's naming of a deadly weapon as the "mother of all bombs".

"I feel ashamed to hear its name. The mother gives life, this weapon kills and we call it mother. What is happening?",Reuters quoted the Pope as saying at an event yesterday.

The head of the Vatican mentionedGBU-43, the bomb nicknamed"Mother Of All Bombs". This is the weapon that the USmiddle of last monththrown to the eastAfghanistan to destroy the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) militants.

This bomb weighs more than 10 tons,Haveexplosive force equivalent to 11 tons of TNT,first used by the US in actual combat.It is considered the world's most powerful non-nuclear weapon.

Pope Francis is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump on May 24. He may have opposing views on immigration, refugees and climate change.
