Friendship exchange to celebrate the 89th National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 3, the Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations organized a Friendship Exchange to celebrate the 89th National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand (1927 - 2016).

Attending the event were Mr. Ho Mau Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairman of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province; Doan Van Nam - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Union of Friendship Associations; representatives of friendship associations in Nghe An province and related individuals and units.

In 2016, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province had many effective people-to-people diplomacy activities such as establishing and strengthening friendly relations with the Northeastern provinces of Thailand; sending delegations of the association and businesses to visit each other; hosting the Joint Conference between the Central Committees of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association and Thailand - Vietnam; organizing the traditional Bunpimay New Year celebration at Vinh University; publishing a documentary film on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand; establishing an additional branch, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Quy Chau district...

In addition, during the year, the Association also awarded Certificates of Merit to Thai students in Nghe An with excellent academic achievements; and awarded Certificates of Merit and Medals "For Peace and Friendship among Nations" to a number of groups and individuals.

Mr. Nguyen Bui Thai - Vice President of Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province presented a report on the results of work in 2016 and the direction of work in 2017.

At the friendly exchange, the Association members also agreed on the direction and objectives of activities in 2017 with the following contents: continuing to strengthen people-to-people diplomacy activities, contributing to strengthening friendly and cooperative relations with the Thai people. Expanding relations with Thai partners, especially the Northeastern provinces to promote economic, trade and tourism cooperation, especially promoting the implementation of the project to build a traditional medicine nursing hospital in Nghe An of the Central Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ho Mau Thanh expressed his condolences to the Royal Family, Queen and people of Thailand for the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Commenting on the activities and contributions of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association, comrade Ho Mau Thanh highly appreciated the contributions of its members in promoting, strengthening and expanding people-to-people diplomacy activities, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province. Congratulations on the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, wishing the friendship between the people of the two countries to be increasingly strong and constantly developing.
