Artistic exchange event "The Spirit of Hoan Chau"
(Baonghean.vn) -On the evening of February 12th, at the tomb of King Mai Hac De (Van Dien commune), the People's Committee of Nam Dan district, in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, organized an art exchange program with the theme "The Heroic Spirit of Hoan Chau".
Participating in the exchange were leaders from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Vinh City, Cua Lo town; representatives of the Mai clan and people from Nam Dan from provinces and cities across the country, along with a large number of people from Nam Dan and tourists from all over.
At the art exchange ceremony, more than 50 amateur artists from three units – Vinh City, Cua Lo Town, and Nam Dan District – presented unique artistic performances praising the life, career, and merits of King Mai Hac De and his generals associated with the Hoan Chau uprising that drove out the Tang Dynasty invaders, liberated the country, and saved the people from suffering in 722.

This art exchange program is significant in honoring historical and cultural values; it also contributes to strengthening cultural and tourism exchanges between the three key tourist destinations of the province, namely Cua Lo town, Vinh city, and Nam Dan district. Furthermore, it aims to implement the project "Improving the quality of destinations and building a cultural tourism environment, 2013-2015" which was signed by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Vinh city, Cua Lo town, and Nam Dan district.

Earlier that afternoon, the People's Committee of Nam Dan District held a ceremony at the site of King Mai's mother's mausoleum and temple, and simultaneously launched many activities of the 2014 King Mai Temple Festival, such as the opening of the 2014 district-level women's volleyball finals; the opening of the traditional wrestling tournament at the King Mai Festival; and the setting up of a festival camp, attracting a large number of local people and tourists from all over to participate.
On February 13, 2014, which was the 14th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse, the 2014 King Mai Temple Festival officially opened with many solemn and vibrant activities.
