Media exchange in response to World Contraception Day
(Baonghean.vn) - World Contraception Day aims to raise young people's responsibility in safe sex and proactive contraception.
On the evening of September 25, in Quy Hop district, the provincial Department of Population and Family Planning organized a media exchange program to celebrate World Contraception Day.

According to statistics from the Department of Maternal and Child Health - Ministry of Health, on average, each year there are about 300 to 400 thousand officially reported abortions nationwide, of which 60 - 70% are students; the rate of complications due to abortion is up to 68 thousand people out of a total of 20 million abortions. These are truly alarming numbers.
In Nghe An, the current situation of early sexual intercourse, unsafe sex, pregnancy, abortion, and the risk of sexually transmitted diseases among adolescents/young people tends to increase. There are even many cases of tragic accidents and deaths due toabortioninsecure.

From this reality, speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Trung Thanh - Deputy Head of the DepartmentDepartment of Population and Family Planningbelieves that: To effectively resolve the above-mentioned problems and challenges, it is necessary to have the attention, leadership and direction of Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, organizations and the whole society.
In particular, the Population - Health sector must be proactive, proactive, and take the lead in advising, directing, and selecting communication activities and providing family planning services appropriate to reality to contribute to raising awareness, encouraging, and motivating people to effectively implement population and family planning policies.

World Contraception Day 2020 was launched with the theme “Proactive contraception, everyone’s responsibility”. At the celebration, the Population Department also organized a media night with the participation of many officials and civil servants working in population work in 21 districts and cities across the province.
Safe contraception brings many benefits to help women take the initiative in their childbirth such as: time, distance and number of children born; avoiding obstetric complications and not getting sexually transmitted diseases. In addition, contraception helps each family have enough 2 children, not having too many children, thereby having conditions to take care of and educate children better, improving the life and economy of each family.

Through art performances, plays, fashion shows..., it has made an important contribution to propagating the Party and State's policies and laws related to population and family planning. In particular, the implementation of contraceptive measures to effectively implement family planning to improve population quality.
The communication program is an opportunity for the staff, civil servants, and collaborators of Population - Health in the units to exchange, learn, and share experiences. At the same time, it is a widespread propaganda activity for officials and people in the whole province.

13 years ago, on September 26, 2007, with the alliance of non-governmental organizations, the International Medical and Scientific Association agreed to make September 26 of each year World Contraception Day.
Since then, World Contraception Day has become a global campaign to raise awareness among young people about safe sex and proactive contraception. It encourages people to proactively take steps to avoid pregnancy for their own benefit and that of the community.
