During the two wars of resistance against France and the United States, Quy Hop district saw tens of thousands of young people enlist and serve in the war effort. After the war, Quy Hop was awarded the Third Class Military Merit by the State, and four communes – Chau Quang, Dong Hop, Tam Hop, and Nghia Xuan – were awarded the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces". The district has 665 martyrs, 620 wounded soldiers, 218 sick soldiers, and 1,274 individuals receiving benefits for exposure to toxic chemicals. Currently, more than 2,450 individuals in the district receive monthly allowances totaling over 4 billion VND. To date, Quy Hop has 22 mothers who have been awarded or posthumously awarded the prestigious title of "Heroic Vietnamese Mother".
Today, most of the cadres and soldiers who participated in the resistance war against the US in Quy Hop have returned to civilian life. The majority have been discharged from the army, some have transferred to work in agencies and enterprises, some are wounded or sick soldiers, some have been exposed to chemical toxins, some still carry shrapnel in their bodies, and some have passed away due to illness or old age…
Although each person has a different background, the vast majority of veterans still carry within them the spirit and character of Uncle Ho's soldiers, continuing to uphold the spirit of April 30th in new conditions, with the will and determination of a soldier, refusing to accept poverty and backwardness, overcoming difficulties to stabilize their family lives and contribute to society. Many comrades have become leading cadres participating in Party committees and governments at all levels, becoming successful entrepreneurs and business owners, creating jobs for workers, helping comrades in need, and actively participating in gratitude and repayment activities..., recognized and highly appreciated by Party committees, governments and the people.
