(Baonghean.vn)- According to Ria Novosti, Associate Professor Klaus Mathiesen at the Danish Military Academy said that the situation on the battlefield is foreshadowing the victory of Russian forces in Avdeevka. This analyst expressed his certainty that Avdeevka will repeat the fate of Bakhmut.

Since October 2023, fierce battles have been taking place between the Russian and Ukrainian armies for Avdeevka. And now, according to expert Klaus Mathiesen, the "fire pot" of Avdeevka has reached a decisive moment.

Associate Professor Klaus Mathiesen believes that after several months of defense, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will have to surrender at Avdeevka.

“Even taking into account that the situation could turn around, I still believe that everything will end up like in Bakhmut, where the Russian army took control,” said expert Klaus Mathiesen.

According to Associate Professor Klaus Mathiesen, the reason for this outcome is mainly due to the lack of resources of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in all areas.

Avdeevka is located in the northwest of Donetsk region. After fierce battles, Avdeevka became a "ghost town", sparsely populated.

Expert Klaus Mathiesen notes that Avdeevka has been under Ukrainian control since 2015, when the sides tried to stop the fighting with the help of the Minsk-2 Agreement.

“Since then, Russia has been trying to take control of Avdeevka, as it is very close to Donetsk so Ukrainian forces will be able to advance quickly from Avdeevka to the center of Donetsk,” the Danish expert said.

Expert Klaus Mathiesen also believes that the Kremlin will take advantage of Russia's victory to attract public attention, ahead of the Russian presidential election next March.

The Ukrainian armed forces continue to hold the city of Avdeevka, comparing the fierce battles to the “Bakhmut meat grinder”. Kiev upholds the spirit of indomitability, continuing to hold Avdeevka by defending, hoping to deprive the advancing Russian army of resources. However, according to Mr. Mathiesen, this tactic risks “suffocating” the city more quickly. Experts believe that Ukrainian forces will be forced to surrender and retreat to the West.

Expert Klaus Mathiesen also expressed curiosity about whether the Russian army would launch tanks and armored personnel carriers in a large-scale breakthrough in Avdeevka.

Meanwhile, the Military Summary channel reported that the Russian armed forces continued to methodically cut Avdeevka into two parts. The risk of the fortress collapsing seemed to be becoming more and more obvious.
