(Baonghean.vn) - Increasing class time, teaching extra hours, and volunteering for additional tutoring in the evenings are some of the solutions schools are implementing to help 12th-grade students successfully complete the 2024 High School Graduation Exam.

At this time, even though the 2023-2024 school year is drawing to a close, many high schools are still organizing well-structured exam preparation classes for 12th-grade students. Before organizing this class, Nghi Loc 5 High School conducted tests and categorized students. After each learning period, the school organizes mock exams to assess abilities. Because each student's test results vary, the number of students in the remedial classes fluctuates frequently. To maintain the tutoring classes, the school's administration and youth union are working together. Teacher Le Van Hao, the school's Youth Union Secretary, shared: "Initially, when we first implemented the program, many students deliberately refused to participate. Therefore, we organized parent meetings and spoke directly with the students. Every day, the school's youth union checks the attendance in each class; if any student is absent, they are reminded and their parents are notified so that the class can be organized. In addition to providing individual review sessions for each class, teachers also directly guide students after each lesson. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Anh, an English teacher, said: "English is the most difficult subject for us. For example, in my class A5, the average survey score at the end of the first semester was only 4.06 points, and we were very worried. Over the past period, besides organizing review sessions and extra tutoring, we have regularly assigned exercises on the Azota system and required students to complete them on the Department of Education and Training's LMS system. The students' assignments are checked daily by teachers and graded and corrected directly on each student's work. After more than three months of perseverance, in the recent mock exam organized by the Department of Education and Training, our English score reached 4.96, and we are aiming to increase it to 5.01 in the actual exam." After months of intensive tutoring for students, the number of students at risk of failing the graduation exam at Nghi Loc 5 High School is gradually decreasing, now down to about 20. A positive sign is that in the mock exam organized by the Department of Education and Training, the school's overall ranking rose to 21st out of 105 schools in the province, with significant progress in many subjects. Mr. Nguyen Anh Duong, the Vice Principal, stated: "Despite many difficulties, the school staff has strived for the students and for the quality of education. The ultimate goal is for the students to have a successful exam season and have many opportunities to be admitted to universities and colleges, possessing sufficient knowledge to choose from a variety of future careers."
