Van Thanh Parish cooks more than 1,000 free meals to support Covid-19 patients

Currently, Thanh Giang commune is a locality with a level 4 epidemic (very high risk). From February 6 to 5:00 p.m. on February 20, 110 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were detected in the commune, of which nearly 40 cases were parishioners of theParishVan Thanh.

Except for 15 patients who have been transferred to higher levels, the remaining patients in the area are being treated at home, and households without private rooms are being treated at the commune's quarantine area.

To share and encourage F0s who are being treated and quarantined locally, the people of Van Thanh Parish organized daily charity meals and gave free meals to them.patient.

The parish has established a Food Committee, organized mobilization, raised funds, purchased food and supplies to cook for patients. Immediately after the campaign was launched, many individuals and families inside and outside the parish supported from 100,000 VND - 2 million VND/person/family. Some individuals and families supported 1 - 2 meals (45 - 90 meals)...

At first, the charity cooking was organized in the parish church kitchen. After some households supported the “hosting”, the cooking was transferred to the households.

Every day, many young people from the parish work with local people to go to the market, cook, divide meals and transport them to quarantine areas, and families give them to patients.

Every day, the parish's culinary committee usually cooks 3 meals (1 snack, 2 main meals) serving 75 - 140 meals for both parishioners and non-parishioners being treated for Covid-19 in the area.

Meals are always guaranteed to be delicious, clean, nutritious and changed regularly. From February 12 to 20, the people of Van Thanh Parish cooked and gave away over 1,000 free meals to patients.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dat - Head of the Youth Committee of Van Thanh Parish shared: In the past, in support of the parish's charity cooking, people inside and outside the parish have supported with funds, time and effort to take care of daily meals for patients.

Everyone's cooperation has created quality meals for patients, helping them have health and joy to fight the epidemic.

According to Mr. Dat, the charity cooking activity of Van Thanh Parish serving free meals to patients being treated for Covid-19 this time in the locality will last until the patients basically recover.

Mr. Tran Dinh Tho - Vice Chairman of Thanh Giang Commune People's Committee said: For nearly 10 days now, Van Thanh Parish has been continuously cooking meals every day for F0s being treated in the commune's quarantine area. At the busiest time, the quarantine area had 46 F0s.

In recent days, parishioners have been very enthusiastic in serving free meals to patients. This act not only shares and encourages patients and their families, but also actively contributes to the local government and people in preventing and fighting the epidemic.
