Nghe An Provincial People's Court has just opened a trial of defendant Ngan Van Pit (born 1992), residing in Nhon Mai commune, Tuong Duong district, for the crime ofIllegal drug trafficking.
Ngan Van Pit is a defendant with a bad record, having been in prison once for drugs. That was in 2013, Pit was sentenced to 10 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking.
Pit was imprisoned at the age of 21, and was released early at the age of 28. It was thought that after that failure, this young man would turn around and start a new life. However, Pit still made the same mistake.

The indictment stated that on the afternoon of April 29, 2024, while Pit was hanging out at the Xoi Voi waterfall area in the commune, he met a man with a Thanh Hoa accent (unknown background and address).
During the conversation, this person asked Pit if he had any pink drugs to sell and that he needed to buy 10 packages of pink drugs. Pit offered a price of 30 million VND and then set a time and place for the two parties to make the transaction.
The next morning, Pit went to Pa Khom village, Tri Le commune, Que Phong district to buy 40 packages of opium from a Mong man for 80 million VND. Pit paid 52 million VND in advance, and asked for a delay in paying the rest. Pit brought the drugs he bought home and hid them on a clothesline, then covered them with a towel.
At 11:45 p.m. on May 2, when Pit was carrying drugs to deliver to a customer, he was arrested by the police along with 10 packages of pink heroin. Searching his residence, the police seized 30 more plastic bags containing pink heroin.
The investigation agency determined that in this case, Pit must bear criminal responsibility for the act of buying and selling more than 838 grams of drugs.
The second time he appeared in court, the defendant appeared quite calm. The defendant confessed that he had been trafficking drugs because he was greedy for the large sum of money. Pit confessed that after being released from prison, he had worked as a freelancer and farmed to make a living. But then, because he was greedy for the large sum of money, the defendant re-offended and trafficked drugs even though he knew that his actions were against the law.
Considering the defendant's behavior as dangerous to society, the defendant trafficked a large quantity of drugs, so the People's Court sentenced Ngan Van Pit to life in prison for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
