Electronic paper can be rolled up to be a flashlight

Japanese paper distributor TAKEO has just launched a smart lighting device made from electronic paper calledPaper torch,DesignboomAugust 27report. Simply roll it up and the e-paper becomes a glowing LED.

The brightness of the lamp can be adjusted flexibly by controlling the tightness of the paper roll. If you want a dim light for your bedroom, just roll the paper lightly. If you want a brighter light for use as a flashlight or desk lamp, just roll the paper tighter.

The LED system will also change color as the user changes the tightness of the paper roll. When the paper roll is rolled tightly, the light will gradually change to yellow (warm color) and when loosened, the light will gradually change to white (cool color).
