Regaining his composure, Hiep said: Around 1:00 p.m. on May 30, after having lunch at a classmate's house, the group of 15 friends continued to bring candy and cakes to go on a picnic in the Trai Xanh area (in Bac Thanh commune).
While the students were walking along the edge of the dam, a girl slipped. Seeing that, 5 other students in the class rushed to the dam to save her and then wrestled with each other in the deep lake. Seeing the scene of drowning and panic, at that time, all I could think about was finding a way to save my friends immediately.
Ignoring all his fear, Hiep jumped into the dam to save the person. When he got into the water, he saw his friends clinging to each other. Hiep tried to bring one of them to shore. That person was Chau. At that moment, he felt like his legs were unsteady and shaking...

Immediately after helping Chau to the shore, she and some other boys jumped into the lake and pulled Tran Long Nhat to the shore and performed CPR. After a while, Nhat gradually fainted... Some other friends were so panicked that they ran into the village to call for help from the surrounding people. At that time, many adults also jumped into the dam to save people, but it was too late...
"So I really lost my friends. This trauma will follow me for the rest of my life," Phan Ba Hiep said, tears welling up in his eyes.
It is known that Hiep is a good student at school. In the 2018-2019 school year, he was an excellent student at Trung Thanh Secondary School. In addition, he was also an excellent student at the district level in Chemistry and Biology.
