Murdered just because he was refused a glass of beer

June 9, 2016 09:19

Just because they were refused a glass of beer, Bun and his friends grabbed knives and skewered grilled ducks to stab each other, causing one person to die.

On June 8, the Hanoi People's Court opened a trial and decided to sentence Ha Van Bun (27 years old, residing in Binh Giang, Hai Duong) to life in prison for murder; the defendants Ha Van Tiep (20 years old, Hai Duong), Dang Van Hai (23 years old, Hai Phong), Bui Viet Thanh (26 years old, Hanoi), Nguyen Duc Dong (20 years old, Hanoi) and Nguyen Kim Khanh (23 years old, Binh Dinh) to between 12 months and 24 months in prison for disturbing public order.

The victim in the case is Mr. Do Van Oanh (24 years old, residing in My Duc, Hanoi).

According to records, on the night of June 14 to 15, 2016, Nguyen Thi Le (18 years old, Hanoi) and a group of friends, including Oanh, went to a duck hotpot restaurant on Tran Dai Nghia Street (Ha Ba Trung, Hanoi) to eat.

Because her brother was an employee at the duck hotpot restaurant, before bringing her group of friends to eat, Le called in advance to prepare the drinks. Knowing that her sister and her group of friends were about to come to the restaurant, Don prepared the dining room and told his colleagues Ha Van Bun, Ha Van Tiep, Dang Van Hai and some other employees to prepare to socialize.

As scheduled, at around 1:20 a.m. on June 15, Le and her group of friends arrived at the duck hotpot restaurant. The two groups of young people quickly “got along” over a few happy beers.

At around 3 o'clock, Hai and the hot pot restaurant staff temporarily said goodbye to their new group of friends to go down to the first floor to drink alone. A while later, Le and her group of friends also said goodbye to their brother to leave.

Standing on the sidewalk waiting for a taxi, Oanh and her friends were invited by the staff at the duck hot pot restaurant to enjoy a few more beers. However, because there were no more seats, Oanh and two other girls in the group just stood outside to enjoy.

Joining the second drinking session, however, after many times of clinking glasses, one person in Oanh’s group refused to drink as he could not “refill”. After exchanging words, the two groups got into a scuffle using glasses and tables and chairs.

As the “homeowner”, Bun called on the hot pot restaurant staff to go inside and get knives and duck skewers to use as weapons to fight. During the fight, Bun used the duck skewer to stab Oanh in the chest, causing her death at the hospital that same morning.

Knowing Oanh's death, Bun and related subjects called each other to escape, but all of them were unable to escape.
