After murdering his wife on suspicion of adultery, the husband dug up the land behind the house to bury her body and then quickly sold the land to someone else to cover up his crime.

On July 9, the People's Court of Dak Lak province opened the first instance trial of defendant Y Non Hmok (born 1970, residing in M'blot village, Ea Bong commune, Krong Ana district) for murder.

According to the indictment, at about 3:30 p.m. on July 23, 2017, a local resident, while driving an excavator to make bricks in the M'blột village field (Ea Bong commune), discovered many human bone fragments and some personal belongings, so he quickly reported it to the local authorities.

In the evening of the same day, Y Non heard that some people discovered human bones in the area where Y Non used to live and killed and buried his wife, so he went to the police station to confess his crime.

Previously, Y Non Hmok and Mrs. H'Rum Bkrong (born 1975) lived together as husband and wife (without registering their marriage) in M'bot village. One day in 2007, Mrs. H'Rum did not want to depend on her husband's family, so she said she did not agree with Y Non Hmok asking her parents for money to buy a house. Y Non got angry and slapped his wife in the face, then went out to drink alcohol.

When he returned home, he saw Mrs. H'Rum complaining about his drinking and suspected her of having an affair, so Y Non killed Mrs. H'Rum and went to the field behind the house to dig a hole to bury her body and some belongings. To deceive everyone, Y Non spread the news that Mrs. H'Rum had left on her own. Afterwards, Y Non also quickly sold this piece of land to a local resident.

According to the indictment, before committing the murder, Y Non had been sentenced to prison for theft and robbery.

At the trial, the defendant Y Non confessed to all of his crimes. At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced the defendant Y Non Hmok to 18 years in prison for murder and ordered him to pay 128 million VND in compensation to the victim’s family.
