Introducing Minister of Public Security To Lam to be elected as President

After the closing session of the 9th Central Conference, on the morning of May 18 at the Party Central Office, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong worked with key leaders.

Attending were Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong; Politburo member, Head of the Central Organization Commission, Head of the Central Party Office Le Minh Hung.

Key leaders met to hear an assessment of the country's work situation in the recent past and focused on giving directions for implementing work in the coming time according to the conclusions set forth at the 9th Central Conference.

This is the first key leadership meeting after the 9th Central Conference approved a number of important contents and introduced personnel for the 15th National Assembly to elect the positions of President and National Assembly Chairman.

The General Secretary congratulated the Central Committee on its high consensus in recommending: Mr. To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, to be elected by the 15th National Assembly as President; Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, to be elected by the 15th National Assembly as Chairman of the National Assembly.

It can be affirmed that in the first half of the 13th term and the first half of 2024, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and key leaders, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, have always maintained solidarity, unity, close coordination, leadership, and direction to successfully complete tasks according to the set programs and plans; especially successfully organizing many important political events.

At the same time, promptly and effectively handle sudden problems that arise; the macro economy is stable, inflation is controlled, and major balances are basically guaranteed.

The fields of national defense, security, foreign affairs, Party building and rectification, and anti-corruption and negativity have achieved many positive results.

Regarding some key tasks in the coming time, key leaders emphasized that, besides opportunities and advantages, we are and will have to face many difficulties and challenges.

Therefore, it is very important to continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and unity throughout the Party, the people and the army, first of all, in the Party Central Committee, key leaders, the Politburo and the Secretariat must be truly united, truly exemplary, wholeheartedly devoted to the common cause.

Specifically: It is necessary to continue to effectively organize the implementation of the 2024 Working Program of the Party Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat.

At the same time, urgently absorb the Central Committee's direction, promptly complete the detailed outline, develop draft documents to submit to the 14th National Party Congress to submit to the 10th Central Conference; promptly issue the Politburo's Directive on Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress; direct the dissemination, concretization, and implementation at all levels of Party committees and organizations to ensure strictness and practicality.

Strongly promote economic growth associated with consolidating and maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, ensuring major balances of the economy; focusing on removing difficulties for production and business; firmly ensuring national defense and security, social order and safety.

At the same time, effectively carry out foreign affairs, strengthen relations with countries and important partners, prioritize, promote and carefully organize foreign affairs events at home and abroad, maintain a peaceful and stable environment for national development. Do a good job of personnel work, protect internal politics; continue to do a good job of preventing and combating corruption and negativity, contributing to consolidating and enhancing people's trust in the Party, State and regime.
