Transgender singer wins Dedication award with song 'Ong ba anh'

"Ong Ba Anh" composed by Le Thien Hieu is the "Song of the Year". Musician Nguyen Ngoc Thien announced and commented that this song is about love, carrying a positive, optimistic message. The author mixed a bit of folk melody to make the composition easy to listen to and easy to remember.

"Ong ba anh" was performed by the transgender singer in the first episode of the program "Sing my song - Best song" in November 2016. In just three days, Thien Hieu's performance video had more than three million views and 29,000 likes on Youtube. His Facebook followers also increased rapidly, from 3,000 to more than 73,000. The singer once revealed that he was panicked when he suddenly became famous.

Le Thien Hieu shared his feelings when receiving the award: "I didn't expect my name to be called. I was very nervous. I would like to thank my grandparents and my ex-lover for inspiring me to write this song." The singer is 21 years old and comes from Thai Nguyen.

In addition to the award for Le Thien Hieu's song,"Sing my song" won "Series of the Year".

Noo Phuoc Thinh is "Singer of the Year". The other four faces in this category include: Ha Anh Tuan, Ho Ngoc Ha, Dong Nhi, Tran Thu Ha.

Musician Khac Hung received two awards: "Musician of the Year" and "Music Producer of the Year". This award is not too surprising because in 2016, the Hanoi musician had many hit songs as well as many impressive harmonies and arrangements for singers.

"Program of the Year" was awarded to "Lighting Hands" by the late artist Tran Lap and the band Buc Tuong. Representative of the band Buc Tuong - guitarist Tran Tuan Hung - was moved to thank his friends and colleagues. He repeated the late artist's saying: "Just give your all, the audience's reward is the most valuable recognition."

The album was named "Original" by Ha Tran. Because the female singer could not attend the awards ceremony, the project team representative sent thanks to the audience for their support. This is the album that Ha Tran has been working on for 12 years.

Hoang Rob received the "New Artist" award. He beat Erik, Le Thien Hieu, Truong Thao Nhi and Soobin Hoang Son in the same category.

Pham Huong presented the "MV of the Year" award to "Bong bong bang bang" (group 365, composed by Only C).

Held since 2004, the Dedication Music Awards aim to honor artists who have made great contributions to Vietnamese music in a year. The award results are voted on by cultural and artistic journalists.
