Sugarcane variety KK3 (Thailand) grown in Nghia Dan, profit 80 million VND/ha

Mr. Cao Thanh Hai in Nghia Hieu commune (Nghia Dan) pioneered in planting 1.4 hectares of new sugarcane variety KK3 in the 2015 autumn crop. He was lent sugarcane varieties by the factory and used services from Nghe An Sugarcane Company (NASU) such as: plowing the land properly, planting sugarcane and spraying herbicides by machine...
The factory also instructed Mr. Hai to use a handheld pH meter to determine the amount of lime and fertilizer needed and the correct type and quantity for each growth stage to balance nutrients. Currently, Mr. Hai's family is harvesting KK3 sugarcane, with a yield of 100 tons/ha, the selling price at the field is 1,250,000 VND/ton, after deducting the invested costs, the profit is 80 million VND/ha.
KK3 sugarcane variety has been tested by NASU and put into production, has many good characteristics: high yield and sugar content, good root regeneration, no flagging, resistant to smut, no appearance of grass shoot disease like other sugarcane varieties...

From this result, NASU is signing contracts with households to expand the KK3 sugarcane area to about 20 hectares in the 2016 autumn crop. If harvested in the spring crop, the sugarcane yield will reach 130-140 tons/ha. On that basis, it will be expanded to the sugarcane material areas in the Western districts.
