Thai sweet corn grown in Quynh Luu brings high income. |
Mr. Vu Duy Thanh (But Linh Cooperative), a sweet corn grower, affirmed that this is a crop with higher economic efficiency than the previously grown corn variety. Moreover, this corn variety has a short growing time, so it reduces labor and costs. It is estimated that after harvesting 2 sao of corn, his family will get 1.6 tons of corn (on average 1 sao 8 quintals), earning nearly 6 million VND.
Thai sweet corn is planted at a density of about 40,000 - 50,000 plants/ha and each plant produces 1 ear. Corn yield reaches 16 tons/ha, according to the market price of 3,500 VND/kg, the average value of 1 hectare gives an income of about 60 million VND.
In addition to harvesting corn, people also cut down trees to sell to TH True Milk Company at 70,000 VND/quintal; on average, for 1 sao of corn, people earn an additional 300,000-500,000 VND/sao, this amount of money offsets the cost of fertilizer and nitrogen. Thus, for 1 sao of Thai sweet corn planted in the winter, people earn nearly 3 million VND.
