Mrs. Tran Thi Huong's family in Hamlet 4, Quynh Luong Commune (Quynh Luu) has been growing dry celery on sandy loam soil for 3 years. Mrs. Huong said: From the 10th lunar month, she started sowing seeds, about 5 weeks after sowing, the plants should have 4-6 leaves. This is the time when she takes the plant pots out to plant on each bed of soil. From sowing to harvesting is 2.5 months. Growing dry celery, Mrs. Huong said, does not require much care, costs less than many other vegetables and is especially almost free of pests.

However, this vegetable has a relatively high yield and beautiful appearance, safe for users. She often grows celery in only 3 beds of land, with an area of nearly 100 m2but the yield is over 300kg. The selling price of water celery in the field is from 10,000 to 12,000 VND/kg, giving her an income of 3 - 3.6 million VND/crop.
Many other households in Quynh Luong commune have also brought dry celery seeds to grow on their family land. The family that grows celery has at least more than 100 m2.2, for large farming households, over 500 m2. This is a type that likes humidity so people choose to plant it in lower areas.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ty, Quynh Luong commune shared: Previously, her family only cultivated cabbage, green onions, lettuce, and various vegetables. In order to diversify crops, especially for varieties and products that are scarce in the locality, in 2017 her family decided to buy celery seeds to sow on sandy soil. Every year, she grows 2 crops, starting from November to the 3rd lunar month of the following year. Notably, this year the selling price is relatively high, maintained at 9 - 12 thousand VND/kg, twice as high as previous years.

Up to now, the whole Quynh Luong commune has over 20 hectares of this vegetable. Mr. Ho Nguyen Tuan - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Luong commune said: Previously, Quynh Luong people monocultured green onions and other vegetables and radishes, but in recent years the commune has recommended that people should apply some new products with high income, especially celery. Currently, although the planting area is not large, celery is very suitable for sandy loam soil and the climate in Quynh Luong commune, so the plants grow very well.
Currently, Quynh Luong commune is actively propagating and encouraging people to actively produce closed production areas after Tet. Focusing on some key local crops such as green onions, tomatoes, vegetables of all kinds and especially some new products with high economic value such as cabbage and celery.
