Emergency arrest of suspect causing market fire
After using a knife to slash Ms. T, causing injuries, Mr. Phuc opened the valve of a large gas tank in the kiosk, causing a fierce fire that quickly spread to adjacent kiosks.

Regarding the fire at the central market of Thanh Tung commune, on August 24, the Investigation Police Agency, Ca Mau Provincial Police, issued an order to detain Pham Van Phuc (63 years old) in an emergency to investigate his behavior.Intentional injuryand destruction of property.
According to the initial investigation results, Mr. Pham Van Phuc lived as husband and wife with Ms. BPT (52 years old) at the kiosk she rented in Thanh Tung market (Thanh Tung commune, Ca Mau province). During their time living together, due to jealousy, the two often had conflicts and arguments.
At around 11:30 a.m. on August 22, Mr. Phuc used a knife to slash Ms. T, causing injuries. The victim ran away and was taken to the emergency room by local residents.
Immediately after that, Mr. Phuc opened the valve of a large gas tank in the kiosk, causing a fierce fire that quickly spread to adjacent kiosks. The fire was brought under control at around 2 p.m. that same day. Mr. Phuc suffered injuries to his hand and smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
According to the report of Thanh Tung Commune People's Committee, the fire completely burned down 57 kiosks of 31 traders, instead of 56 kiosks of 25 traders as initially reported. The total damage is estimated at over 20 billion VND.
Some small traders suffered heavy losses including: Mr. Bui Huu Ba (8 kiosks, damage of more than 4 billion VND), Mr. Phan Hoang Kiem (3 kiosks, more than 3 billion VND) and Mr. Dang Minh Chanh (3 kiosks, more than 3 billion VND)...
Notably, among the affected traders, 18 households do not have their own houses, of which 3 households have no place to live. The People's Committee of Thanh Tung Commune had to borrow houses from people around the market to arrange temporary accommodation, and mobilize forces to dismantle and clean up the scene, expected to be completed on August 24.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency, Ca Mau Provincial Police, is continuing to investigate and clarify to handle according to the law the behavior of Mr. Pham Van Phuc in the Thanh Tung market fire./.
