Amid Israel-Palestine tensions, US sends aircraft carrier close to Eastern Mediterranean
(Baonghean.vn) - The US Navy's aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford has arrived in the Eastern Mediterranean as Washington continues to deploy additional forces in the region amid the latest escalation of tensions between Israel and Palestine.

This is the information just announced by the US Central Command (CENTCOM). According to the CENTCOM statement: "The USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier strike group is moving to the Eastern Mediterranean to deter any actors seeking to escalate or expand this conflict."
“Efforts to enhance US posture continue, including the rapid introduction of US Air Force F-15s, F-16s and A-10s to augment existing fighter squadrons in the region,” the statement said.
“The introduction of these highly capable forces into the region is a strong deterrent signal should any hostile force to Israel think of exploiting the current situation,” said General Michael Kurilla, commander of US Central Command, about the deployment.
The latest round of tensions in the Middle East erupted after Hamas militants launched an attack on Israeli territory on October 7. According to the latest reports, clashes and shelling have left about 900 Palestinians dead and more than 4,500 Palestinians injured, more than 1,000 Israelis dead and more than 3,400 Israelis injured.
Hamas said its attack was in response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Jerusalem's Temple Mount. Israel has declared a state of war and imposed a complete blockade on the Gaza Strip.
