(Baonghean) - With the theme 'Youth join hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas', the 2017 summer youth volunteer campaign continues to promote the pioneering and volunteering role of youth.

In particular, these are also practical activities to welcome the Congresses of the Youth Union at all levels towards the 11th National Congress of the Youth Union, term 2017 - 2022.

Waiting for volunteer footprints

In June, summer comes, and youth union members across the country are eager to participate in volunteer campaigns. In this spirit, the Youth Union chapters at all levels in the province have prepared plans for a successful, meaningful, and youthful summer. For many years, the Vinh University Youth Union has been one of the typical units for summer volunteer activities both domestically and internationally. This year, closely following the general theme of the campaign with the slogan: "Effective - Safe - Creative - Practical", the School Youth Union has built 5 programs. In which, the program "Supporting the exam season - 2017", with the participation of 16 Youth Union organizations of Institutes, Youth Union branches and clubs, teams, groups from June 20 - 25, 2017. The program "Volunteer students" is deployed from June 30 - July 19, 2017 in the districts: Quy Hop, Con Cuong, Nghia Dan, Que Phong, Quy Chau, Tan Ky, Thanh Chuong, Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Yen Thanh. Indispensable and also one of the outstanding marks of Vinh University Youth Union in recent years is the summer volunteer program in Laos, scheduled to be implemented from July 6 to 30, 2017 with the participation of the International Student Volunteer Team including students and international students studying at the school. In addition, Vinh University Youth Union also organizes Social Work Team No. 1 to teach summer and organize activities at SOS Children's Village Vinh, operating throughout the summer; volunteer activities on site, doing projects, youth work, protecting the environment, security and order during the summer of students; Student Volunteer Team supports international students studying at the school to organize Vietnamese language teaching, specialized subjects and cultural exchange activities for international students. Secretary of Vinh University Youth Union Thieu Dinh Phong said: "We have assigned specific activities to youth volunteer teams with the requirement of extensive organization, attracting a large number of youth union members to participate, focusing on on-site, in-depth volunteer activities, ensuring effectiveness, safety, leaving an impression and image of the school's students."

In the mountainous district of Quy Hop, this year, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee selected Chau Thanh commune, Quy Hop district as the pilot unit and focused on provincial-level activities with the following contents: Deploying the construction of projects to light up rural roads, providing free medical examinations and treatment, building volleyball courts for ethnic minority youth, teaching summer culture, building roads, installing electricity, training in science and technology; supporting elephant grass seeds, breeding cows, to build grass planting and cow raising models... The program implemented in Chau Thanh commune is expected to start from July 1-20, 2017 with the participation of 9 volunteer youth teams from universities and colleges in the province and the Youth Union of the provincial CCQ bloc, provincial enterprises, police, fire police, border guards, and military. To successfully implement the summer volunteer campaign, Quy Hop District Youth Union has planned to coordinate with provincial-level volunteer youth teams to carry out the campaign in Chau Thanh commune; At the same time, a plan was made at the district level to establish at least 5 concentrated, specialized youth volunteer teams with the participation of 50 youth union members to support communes and difficult areas.

Each commune-level unit establishes at least one youth volunteer team to focus on participating in new rural construction, responding to natural disasters, floods, and preventing forest fires; organizes the construction of at least three new volleyball courts in hamlets and villages; examines and gives free medicine to at least 500 people in difficult circumstances and policy families.

The entire Quy Hop district also organized 3 campaigns to clean up the environment and beautify the urban areas in the Campaign. “We require each organization to build 1 project to light up the rural roads in difficult areas. Each unit organizes at least 1 propaganda activity to prevent drowning, or 1 swimming class for local children; undertakes at least 1 civilized road with the criteria of “Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe” in the locality and repairs 1 km of rural roads” - Secretary of Quy Hop District Youth Union Nguyen Dinh Thuan added.

Focus on specialized activities

To implement the 2017 summer youth volunteer campaign, the Provincial Youth Union Executive Committee has issued an implementation plan and set out requirements for volunteer activities to be organized widely, effectively, practically, safely, sustainably, and in line with the needs of each locality and unit; focusing on organizing on-site volunteer activities, attracting a large number of union members, youth and social forces to participate. Districts, cities, town unions and Unions of affiliated units are also required to ensure effectiveness, practicality, and suitability to the actual situation of the unit when implementing the campaign. In particular, the Provincial Youth Union strongly emphasizes the implementation of activities focusing on specialization in fields, expertise, and strengths associated with specific areas in order to create strong changes in reality.

In particular, the Provincial Youth Union identified the highlights as 4 programs and campaigns associated with specific subjects. The Exam Support Program was implemented from June 2017 with participants being students studying at universities and colleges; youth in the areas where the program was organized. The Green Summer Volunteer Campaign was implemented from June to August 2017. Participants were students of universities and colleges; students of vocational secondary schools, vocational training centers; cadres, lecturers, young teachers of universities, colleges, secondary schools; youth in the areas where the campaign took place.

The Hoa Phuong Do volunteer campaign was deployed from June to July 2017 with participants being students from high schools and continuing education centers. Young cadres and teachers from high schools and continuing education centers. The Ky Nghi Hong volunteer campaign was deployed from June to August 2017 with participants being young workers, civil servants and public employees, associated with the activities of "Volunteer Saturday" to advise and assist people on administrative procedures focusing on areas of interest, such as: social insurance, land, health care, tax, customs; youth worker markets in industrial parks... Finally, the Hanh Quan Xanh volunteer campaign was deployed from June to August 2017 for young armed forces.

Comrade Pham Ngoc Canh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Provincial Youth Union said: Activities in the 2017 summer volunteer campaign such as: free medical examination and medicine distribution for the poor; propaganda of laws, prevention of drugs, prostitution, HIV; participation in new rural construction such as: building rural roads; repairing and installing electrical systems; teaching summer culture, summer activities for children; training on science and technology transfer; training on accident and injury prevention... will be organized simultaneously for 20 days, expected to start from July 2017 in an in-depth direction, bringing specific results in each locality and unit.
