According to the indictment, in May 2015, Hoa was hired by Ms. Dang Thi Khanh as a maid. Discovering that Ms. Khanh had a safe containing gold in a large wooden cabinet in her bedroom, Hoa had the intention of appropriating it.

Knowing that the homeowner often kept the safe key in the plastic wardrobe, Hoa took advantage of the time when she was taking a shower or not at home to open the safe and steal it.

From July 2015 to July 2016, Hoa committed the crime 13 times, took 96 SJC gold bars, and then spread the news that he won the lottery.

At the trial, Hoa stated that he saved part of the money to repair the house, lend money, and spend.

Hoa was sentenced to 15 years in prison and forced to pay back all the stolen gold.
