Morning of September 9, atVinh cityThe seminar “Removing difficulties and obstacles in passenger transport business by car” took place. Attending were the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Automobile Transport Association, leaders of a number of transport departments, a number of transport units, passengers, and bus stations. Attending were representatives of the Hanoi and Nghe An Departments of Transport and more than 30 automobile transport associations nationwide.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, passenger transport business was severely affected; currently, the transport business has returned to normal, but passenger transport units by car are still facing many difficulties. According to registration, about 70-90% of the number of vehicles entering the station, but the number of passengers is only 30-50% compared to before the pandemic in 2019, some bus stations do not have enough revenue to cover expenses, and some transport units are at risk of bankruptcy.

Recently, there has been a situation where many unitsfixed route passenger transportLeaving the station to open ticket sales points, collecting and picking up and dropping off passengers illegally, and the rampant use of uncontrolled disguised contract vehicles has led to a decrease in the number of vehicles entering the station...
At the seminar, representatives of bus stations and transport businesses nationwide proposed a number of solutions and recommendations to gradually improve the quality of passenger service.
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Van Quyen - Chairman of the Vietnam Automobile Transport Association proposed solutions and recommendations to state agencies to remove difficulties for passenger transport businesses. Specifically, fixed-route transport units need to organize reasonably, apply digital transformation technology to management, and research centralized management instead of organizing according to the current contract mechanism.
Taxi transport units should eliminate the sale of franchises and improve the quality of passenger service. Bus stations need to study to become logistics centers, exploiting the maximum space and existing labor facilities. Bus stations and transport units need to have tighter contracts and create conditions to help each other in business. The Government and the Ministry of Transport need to direct localities to study and stabilize the planning of bus stations so that bus station businesses can confidently invest and exploit.

Some localities with subsidized bus routes need to study the salary unit price in bus prices to attract drivers and staff, in order to improve service quality. Study the arrangement of stops, pick-up and drop-off points on the road for vehicles operating fixed-route transport businesses to ensure that units operate effectively and without violations.
