(Baonghean) - Ms. Tran Thi Dao, residing in Dai Hai village, Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu district), lost her husband in 2012 due to a maritime accident. She has three children, the eldest daughter, Tran Thi Dinh, born in 1997, has a disability affecting her limbs and suffers from heart, lung, and kidney disease, as well as a cleft palate, and is currently unable to speak. Her two sons are still of school age. Her family is facing extreme hardship.
For the past year, since her husband's death, Ms. Dao has been working tirelessly to provide for her family, living in her in-laws' house, and feeding her disabled and mentally challenged daughter spoonfuls of rice and water. However, circumstances are ironic; she herself suffers from stage 2 kidney failure and requires monthly treatment at the Nghe An Friendship General Hospital. Due to financial difficulties, she cannot afford to go to better hospitals in Hanoi as advised by doctors. For several months now, Ms. Dao has been borrowing money from everyone in the village to pay for her two sons' school fees and her own kidney treatment. Currently, Ms. Dao doesn't know how to do any other work, only mending fishing nets for hire, earning 30-40 thousand dong a day to support four mouths to feed.
Mr. Le Trung Tuong, Head of Dai Hai village, shared: “Ms. Dao's household is classified as a poor household in the village and commune, facing particularly difficult circumstances. The commune People's Committee regularly visits and encourages her. However, the local support fund is limited, and all the burden of medicine and illness falls on Ms. Dao's shoulders. We sincerely hope that all levels of government, relevant agencies, and philanthropists will pay attention and share the burden, helping Ms. Dao and her children overcome their current difficult and impoverished situation.”
