With the support of both parents working in the arts, and working at the Central Drama Theater (Vietnam Drama Theater) and Hanoi Drama Theater, it seems that success came to People's Artist Le Khanh as inevitable. But the female artist said "it's very unfair, failure is frequent, failure is daily".

"Every day I have to overcome very harsh peaks. Few people know the real harshness, obstacles, bumps and hardships. Everyone thinks everything comes to me easily. Only my family and I know what it is really like. Actually, the life of artists is so difficult that we don't have peaks. Today's success is gone tomorrow, and we move on to something new. If we are a little careless, a little tired, a little lazy, we will fail," People's Artist Le Khanh shared.

People's Artist Le Khanh said that there was a role that made her go from expectation to disappointment. That was in 1986, when the Youth Theater had a cultural exchange cooperation project with France. Le Khanh was assigned to play the role of Janda in the playLarkWhen reading the script, she was extremely impressed by why there was such a heroic girl in this world.

"All my passion was put into that role, but when the French director came to inspect the play, he was speechless because it wasn't the Janda he wanted. More than shocked, I couldn't even hear myself say anything. Everyone can imagine that all my efforts were put into that role, but now it was like a bucket of cold water was poured on me. At that time, my face was red and I was shaking. Then I told myself that I was in Vietnam, and he was in France, no one knew who I was, why was I so arrogant, so misunderstood about myself like that.

I sat quietly at the back of the theater, in the darkest place so no one could see me watching everyone practice every day. The director must have felt sorry for me and saw that this girl was well-behaved, so he asked me if I wanted to perform this impromptu scene. Normally I'm shy, but at that moment, I don't know why I boldly nodded. It was only two minutes and I just acted like I had practiced it for 100 nights," People's Artist Le Khanh shared.

After that, the play resonated as a phenomenon of the stage. This is also a pivotal role in the career of People's Artist Le Khanh. If she had not transformed into Janda, People's Artist Le Khanh said she would not have had the range of characters with many personalities as she does now. "It is a turning point and in training, I also talk a lot with students when teaching because they have to overcome themselves, be persistent and patient."

People's Artist Le Khanh is charming when acting in comedy.

Throughout her glorious artistic career and the many medals she has won, the People's Artist said that the medal that she values the most, is the emotional medal that she leaves in the hearts of the audience. "Only the audience knows whether this role is truly successful or a failure. There are many roles that have medals but are not very successful," said People's Artist Le Khanh.

She talked about the difficulties of playing the role of Dan Thiem in the play.Vu Nhu Toby the late author Nguyen Huy Tuong. Vu Nhu To, the architect of Thang Long Citadel, appeared, was shackled and imprisoned just because of his arrogance. But only Dan Thiem - a forgotten palace maid knew how talented Vu Nhu To was to help the country.

"That literary work caused a big stir, I was assigned to that role - a character with great influence in the literary world. Furthermore, for many years the playVu Nhu ToI was not allowed to go on stage because I could not find the role of Dan Thiem. But when I read the script, there were a few lines, I really did not know how to act. I went to the director - People's Artist Nguyen Dinh Nghi to confide in him, but he also said "just think, you can do it". Even People's Artist Pham Thi Thanh told me the same thing.

Everything seemed to hang over my head. I told myself, now I have to play an ideological character. But on stage, no one accepts an ideological character. I have to say it as the words of Dan Thiem in the flesh, there must be spiritual emotion. I have to trace the character's origin, build a basic background,... In general, an artist who wants to transform into a character must be as meticulous as that," said People's Artist Le Khanh.
