Google launches new robot model that acts like a human
(Baonghean.vn) - Atlas, a humanoid robot designed by Boston Dynamics and purchased by Alphabet - Google's parent company, can open doors, walk on snow, place objects on high places and stand up after being pushed. Atlas was created for disaster recovery in places that are unsafe for humans, such as nuclear power plant accidents.

The Atlas robot first appeared in 2013 in a competition organized by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. This new version of Atlas is the result of research by 7 software development teams from around the world to give Atlas a better brain.
The new version of Atlas is smaller and more agile than its predecessor. Atlas stands 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, and is fully mobile.
Atlas uses sensors throughout its body and legs to maintain balance. A laser built into its head helps it see and avoid obstacles, navigate, assess terrain, and move objects.
Operating its joints on a hydraulic principle, Atlas can scan its surroundings and perform complex movements such as walking, climbing stairs, and avoiding debris.
In one experiment, a Boston Dynamics employee pushed a box away from Atlas with a hockey stick. Atlas quickly adjusted and moved to pick it up. Atlas was also pushed from behind and quickly performed a push-up to get back up.
Boston Dynamics is known for developing many impressive and unique robots such as Cheetah Robot that can run faster than Usain Bolt, heavy robots that can climb walls like a gecko and jump 30 feet high. Boston Dynamics projects have close ties with the US military.
Alphabet has been developing a large number of robotics projects over the years, with Boston Dynamics being the largest partner. Alphabet will continue to invest in this product line because the company believes it will bring efficiency and profit in the future./.
