Gorbachev: Thatcher was outstanding, May was no less
Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev does not rule out that the second woman to hold the position of Prime Minister in the history of the United Kingdom could be on par with the legendary Margaret Thatcher.

On July 13, Queen Elizabeth II appointed Theresa May as British Prime Minister.
In a conversation with Sputnik correspondent, Mr. Gorbachev said that he did not know Theresa May and could hardly say anything about her.
Asked whether he agreed with the prediction that Theresa May could become a new Margaret Thatcher, the former Soviet President commented: "Thatcher was an outstanding woman, and who knows, Mrs. May might be no less."
The Sputnik correspondent also emphasized that it is first of all the British people who will evaluate the work of the new female Prime Minister.
