Griezmann shines, Atletico chases Real and Barca

The French star scored the only goal to help Atletico beat Deportivo in round six of La Liga.

Antoine Griezmann became Atletico's hero when he broke the deadlock in the 70th minute. The striker received the ball from Kevin Garmeiro's cross, then finished into the Deportivo net from close range.

Griezmann's goal gave Atletico their third win of the 2016-17 La Liga season. With three draws, the red and white striped team has 12 points and moved up to third place. Real and Barca are currently above them with just two and one points more.

Right behind Atletico are Villarreal and Bilbao. These two teams also have 12 points but lose on secondary index.

The top five are separated by just two points, making the La Liga race exciting. A win would see the fifth-placed team take the lead.

Real, Atletico and Villarreal are still unbeaten. Barca have scored the most goals after six games (19), while Atletico have the best defence, having conceded just two goals.
