"I have never ruled Tottenham and Chelsea out of the title race. If Chelsea maintain their form, they will be formidable opponents. Man Utd have also won consecutively in recent rounds and are still competing for the throne. The Premier League has five or six teams that can still win the title. The gap between the teams is not too big," coach Pep Guardiola toldSky SportsFebruary 5th
Under Solskjaer, Man Utd have won seven and drawn one of their last eight Premier League games. Their unbeaten run has seen them rise to fifth in the table, ahead of Arsenal. "There are 13 games left in the Premier League, with a maximum of 39 points for each team. So a 10-point gap is not that big. Every team has the ability to pick up points in each round at the moment," Guardiola added.
Man City lost to Newcastle in the middle of last week, giving Liverpool a chance to break away. But Jurgen Klopp's team drew two consecutive matches against Leicester and West Ham. The gap between Liverpool and Man City is only three points. Meanwhile, the gap between Tottenham, Chelsea and Man Utd to the top of the table is five, 12 and 14 points respectively.
"A few days ago, it seemed like Man City had no chance of winning the championship. But now, we have the advantage. In the next few rounds, Man City can reclaim the top spot, or fall behind. Anything can happen, so right now we are trying to stay calm and focus on doing our job well. I want to see that from the players, and then we will look at the results and the scoreboard," the Spanish coach emphasized.
